the above image is an unprecedented look into the process of making a jim turbert self-portrait.  dave olsen helped me out while i was shooting, and he also brought his trusty new canon elph along to document the magic.  it truly was magical.  just ask the freezing muensterman sisters in the background.  they loved every second of it.
that's all for now.

with all my love,

hi- it is my high school jersey, but the rest of the stuff was purchased from on-line retailers, brick and mortar sports stores or ebay. i had to paint the helmet gold for aesthetic reasons (it was bright yellow when i bought it from a guy in haverhill, ma), and i got the shoulder pads from a sports store in chelsea, ma. now i have somewhere around $200 worth of football pads that have never been used and worn for only 40 minutes or so. if anyone wants to buy some protective gear, send me an e-mail.
as for the blue and gold, i thought about that. i even thought about going to gilbert to see if they would let me use their gear, and perhaps lend me a cheerleader or two. since the picture is about imitating a formerly possible future or expectation rather than mimicking my past, i decided it was better to go with a different color scheme while holding onto the seeds of the idea (my jersey). also, i think red and black look better together than black and royal blue.
any freaking way, i hope all of my former classmates from gilbert are doing well. i hope you aren't sorry you looked me up.

sincerely,
jim
